EVENT: Spivey’s Place Grand Opening

Bishop Billy Spivey was a businessman and father of 13 children. I grew up w/ His pastoring a church in the Fort Branch neighborhood affectionately called “The Hog Pen.” He was an active PTA president that I would see in school on a regular basis. Later He opened a BBQ Place near MLK & Springdale. Thanks to Sister-Friend “Billie Carlette” I ate a number of sausage wraps there, as I waited to gaze upon one of His sons that I heavily crushed on. Ha!! Many years later, Bishop Spivey relocated to Florida I believe. After returning back to Austin, dementia became a factor for this patriarch and He passed away in 2018. This family, both males and females are not shy of cooking skills!! Regina, the youngest daughter, has been doing private catering events for a while.

After some health challenges that had a great impact on life’s circumstances, She has taken on the legacy of Her father and opened a food truck that will be located in Hutto (I believe).

The event was WELL ATTENDED and the food truck sold out an hour before the slated end time.

All of the vendors (that I visited), received A’s for branding, presentation and products!! Kudos to You all. 👏🏾

Fancy neckties on pearl necklaces are a new trend; which were in abundance by 2 different vendors. One, charging $25 w/ the Pearl necklace attached and another $25 & $30 if it had large embellishments, neither including the necklace.

The Huney Pot (for all things natural) had juices, scrubs, oils and a bbq seasoning.

“Mama Spivey” at the age of 90, is still going and w/ the support of eldest daughter Lore Spivey, had homemade cakes for sale.

Seeing many faces I hadn’t seen in a long time was THE BEST!!

Shout out to Regina Spivey, owner of Spivey’s Place for hosting a very nice, well organized event. I wish Her, the Spivey Family and every Spivey iteration of business acumen much success!! 💞
