Our Wants - The Need

Our Wants - The Need

One of the Greatest challenges We face is Not getting what We Want. As children, at some point in our lives, there was something that We wanted that We did not receive or couldn’t get at a particular time and as a result We cried, pouted, bargained, bartered, begged or just worked (chores, good behavior) in order to get it.

As adults, We ask for, work towards or just sometimes have been rewarded w/ the things we want: which could seem like simple math. If You want to see how determined You can become whether it good or bad, start wanting something. We can budget, adjust, sacrifice, give, believe, change and so much more for whatever it is We Want.

So, if God wants our attention, what better way to get it, than to tamper w/ what We want? To be clear, not every want is an object. Some wants are simple (a few extra minutes of sleep), some are moderate (wanting that little gas to get us to our destination) and some are serious (jobs, family, health, shelter).

What happens when God takes what We want or How We want to do something and plugs it up: stopping the movement of it in a particular direction or sifts it out in ways and places We didn’t have planned?

Let’s say, we have a situation where we are allowed to carry out our creative ideas or express our love and change happens. A lot of times We revert back to Our start and repeat the behavior We did in our childhood and/or if We are Christians, w/ certain backgrounds, We name it and claim it and if there be any struggle, We label it a force coming against us. But what if God allowed that original thing that We wanted, to be something that would ignite, open, expand, enhance, develop and fill us for something that would benefit someone else?

Think of the time when everything seemed to be good, in place or ready to go and all of a sudden BOOM! All of the movement changed or stopped. What did You do? How did You react? What did You say? Not that anyone’s answer is wrong because Your answer is Your truth but what did You do w/ what was left? What did You do w/ that momentum, that vision/desire, that lesson/information or those relationships? Was it/is it abandoned all together or might You consider it being water for a Greater thirst?

Just because it doesn’t serve where or how We want, when We want or w/ whom We want, doesn’t mean there wasn’t an Original Plan For it. So, if the person You’ve loved changes/passes away or the position You’re desiring is filled by another or the day You’ve planned for/dreamed of is trumped w/ storm, tragedy or just hasn’t arrived like You thought: Don’t Abandon and Don’t W/hold that which was developed w/in and through that situation but be willing to give it according to The Need God purposed it for. Remember: Circumstances often aide in creating a flow (practice) but they are not designed to be the vessels that confine and define the function of the flow. Luke 6
